Birational Kleinian groups

Résumé :
One possible way to generalize the notion of Kleinian groups to a higher dimensional algebraic variety is to define them as groups of birational transformations acting discretely by deck transformations on some open subsets of the variety. We give an introduction to this topic and give a classification in the cocompact two dimensional case.
