Introduction to modular forms. Application to the sum of four squares.
Mercredi, 27 Mars, 2019 - 17:00 à 18:00
Résumé :
Modular forms are holomorphic functions defined on the Poincaré half-plane on which matrix groups act. They can be seen as power series whose coefficients have remarkable arithmetic properties. The aim of my talk will be to show how modular forms can be used to prove arithmetic identities. I will focus on calculating the number of different ways to decompose an integer into a sum of four squares.
