CIMAT Summer School

Renormalization, graph polynomials, Hopf algebras and relations with motives

  (June 22-july 1)

                                                                                                                            followed by the

International Workshop

Algebraic geometry and algebra related to renormalization (july 3-4 2009)

Location: CIMAT Guanajuato, Mexico

Dates: june 22- july 4 (2 weeks) 2009

The aim is roughly to cover enough material so that the following article  can be understood:

On Motives Associated to Graph Polynomials, 54 p, Commun.Math.Phys. 267 by Spencer Bloch, Hélène Esnault, Dirk Kreimer:  (2006) 181-225, arXiv:math/0510011

To be more specific, we want to

- familiarize participants with Feynman-graphs and renormalization theory;

- explain those parts of Hopf  algebras relevant to physics;

- explain how periods of integrals can be understood from the perspective of Hodge theory

- introduce motives and their connection with graph polynomials

The lecturers for  the school  are:

Stefan Weinzierl                      Feynman graphs and renormalizations

Kurusch Ebrahimi-Fard          Hopf algebras

Chris Peters                          Hodge theory related to graph polynomials, Introduction to motives
                                                and an explanation of On Motives Associated to Graph Polynomials

Patrick Brosnan                      Graph polynomials and motives

Francis Brown                      Polylogarithms, iterated integrals
