Very little is known about the distribution or rational points on an
algebraic variety of dimension at least 2.
Attempts to understand it, have led to a wealth of
thought-provoking conjectures, some unifying different mathematical
aspects (analytic, algebraic, arithmetic).
The talk will present an overview and some open problems of the area.
