Modular Calabi--Yau manifolds, from a hypergeometric perspective

Résumé :
Hypergeometric functions happen to record a lot of arithmetic
information about manifolds. In my talk I will outline this connection
for some instances of modular (rigid) Calabi--Yau manifolds whose
periods are expressed in terms of hypergeometric functions. In
particular, I will explain what "hypergeometry" and "modularity" means
in this context.
