What is the genomic structure of a quantitative trait ?
Thursday, 26 January, 2023 - 17:00
Résumé :

This presentation is aimed at mathematicians without prior knowledge in genetics or biology.

I will introduce from a historical perspective the framework of quantitative genetics. This field is focused with the inheritance of continuous traits and the way natural selection shapes them. I will then formally define a specific model with linkage, where we keep track of the structure of the genome. This will yield a dynamical system on which the forces of mutation, stabilising selection and sex act. I will give preliminary results and politely ask for help on the mathematical subtleties beyond my abilities.
