For a long time, algebraic topology has been regarded as an abstract
branch of mathematics, remote from applications. This view is no longer
correct: In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in
potential applications of algebraic topology to various areas of
computer science and engineering. It is the aim of the conference to
gather researchers with an active interest in the interplay between
this branch of mathematics and neighbouring disciplines in order to
foster and further cooperation. The areas of focus for this conference
include, but are not limited to, the following.
Conferences under the title
Algebraic Topological Methods in Computer Sciences
have been held in 2001 at
Stanford, CA, USA
and in 2004 at
London, Ontario, CA.
Workshops under the title
Geometric and Topological Methods in Concurrency (and Distributed Systems)
have been held in Aalbord, Denmark (1999 and 2001), Penn State, PA, USA
(2000), Toulouse, France (2002), Marseille, France (2003), Amsterdam,
the Netherlands (2004), San Francisco, CA, USA (2005) and Bonn,
Germany. (2006)
