Install/Upgrade Xcas on old Mac PPC
-
If you are on OS X.4 or higher and
Xcas is not installed, follow instructions here
-
If you want to upgrade an old version of Xcas
for OS X.3 on your system, do not try to desinstall it, you would
render your Mac unusable,
check that you have the latest
disk image of Xcas OS X.4 and run the installer (it will copy
automatically the libiconv* to /usr/local/lib as
explained below).
-
If you want to uninstall Xcas OS X.3, first copy
/usr/lib/libiconv*
to /usr/local/lib with the following commands inside a Terminal
sudo mkdir /usr/local/lib
sudo cp /usr/lib/libiconv* /usr/local/lib
-
For old Mac OS X.3 Power PC, you can try this
old version, this old version is incompatible with Mac OS X.4
and can not be uninstalled
unless you follow the indications above.
Click on the package inside the disk image,
it should install Xcas in Applications.
-
For previous OS X versions : there is no more support, an old
version is available
here (the disk image should decompress itself, click on it on
the Finder Desktop and then click on xcas).
Xcas has first been ported to Mac OS X thanks to Jean-Yves Avenard.
