Objectifs de la formation
La spécialité « Sécurité Cryptologie et Codage de l’information » est une formation professionnalisante en un an de très haut niveau, proposée en collaboration entre l’Université Joseph Fourier (Institut Fourier et UFR IMA) et l’Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (Grenoble-INP et ENSIMAG). Le contenu des cours porte sur les mathématiques de la cryptologie et de la sécurité des systèmes d’information, ainsi que sur les concepts et techniques informatiques de sécurité réseau et de sécurité multimédia, s’appuyant sur l’utilisation de langages informatiques adaptés. Les intervenants dans ces cours sont tant de l’UJF (principalement Institut Fourier, LJK, LIG, Verimag) que de Grenoble-INP (ID-IMAG/LIG et TIMA) ; des apports extérieurs viennent du CESTI, de l’EPFL, ou de PME (Mataru pour l’audit de sécurité informatique). Le Master 2P SCCI existe depuis 2003 et 124 étudiant(e)s ont été diplomés depuis.

Effectifs et public concerné
L’effectif de ce Master 2 Mathématiques et Informatique : spécialité Cryptologie, Sécurité et Codage de l’Information est actuellement d’une trentaine d’étudiant(e)s.
Le public concerne principalement les étudiants du Master 1 ou les titulaires de maîtrises (mathématiques, informatique, physique) ayant suivi un enseignement suffisant de mathématiques et d’informatique. Par ailleurs, ce Master 2 Mathématiques et Informatique : spécialité SCCI est une 3e année possible pour les élèves ingénieurs notamment ceux de l’INPG (Ensimag et département Telecom) ou pour le Magistère Mathématiques et Applications. Il pourra accueillir des étudiants issus d’un I.U.P. Ce Master 2 Mathématiques et Informatique : spécialité SCCI pourra enfin être suivi en formation continue.
Déroulement des études
L’enseignement comporte cinq parties :
1) Cours intensifs de mise à niveau en mathématiques ou en informatique
2) Un tronc commun jusqu’au mois de décembre (15 ECTS)
3) un module anglais (3 ECTS)
4) Un module optionnel au choix parmi 2 (12 ECTS) jusqu’au mois de mars.
5) Des options : l’étudiant doit choisir 3 ECTS parmi les 2 UE proposées ou parmi les UE du Master Mathématique-Informatique, le choix externe étant possible sous réserve de validation par les responsables.
Stages : 6 mois
Ouverture internationale
Il est ouvert aux candidatures internationales de niveau équivalent.
Dans ce cadre, et au vu des débouchés en entreprises, l’enseignement se fait en anglais depuis 2007.
Depuis la rentrée 2008, le M2P SCCI est aussi la spécialité « Security and Cryptology of Informatic Systems » du Master of Science in Informatics at Grenoble
Context and objective
With the increasing externalization of corporations and organizations in a global multimedia and interconnected world, security of information systems and integration of data protection technologies are among the most critical issues, from private life protection to company survivability and protection of their funds. Yet, security of information systems is an active field of research. Especially, within the Grenoble Universities, the Grenoble techno pole gathers experts in computer science, mathematics and electronics from both INPG (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble) and UJF (Université Joseph Fourier), leading institutions involved together on the field of information systems and security at an international level.
Based on its excellence and reputation as first French “Grande Ecole d’Ingénieur” in computer science and applied mathematics, the ENSIMAG proposes a graduate program on the engineering of secure information systems and embedded circuit design. Within the Master 2 “Mathématiques, Informatique ?”, this two year program leads to the title “Master in Security , Cryptology and Coding of Information systems”. delivered by both the INPG and UJF institutions.
The objective is to graduate 38 students, within three promotions, The first promotion (about 12 students) will attend the Master from 2007, January till graduation in 2008, September ; the second one from 2008, January till graduation in 2009, September ; and the last one from 2009, January till graduation in 2010.
General description
The Master is a two year program, including both an academic part and an individual Master thesis. The academic part, taught in Grenoble, includes both courses and projects generally performed in small teams with two to four students : Common core courses in information systems : Optional courses with advanced specialization in one of the following fields advanced engineering in information systems ; cryptology : advanced protocols and attacks ; embedded circuit synthesis and crypto-processors. The Master thesis consists in an individual work performed in the framework of C-S corporation, with supervision from a professor from Grenoble.
Since 2008, the Master in Security , Cryptology and Coding of Information systems is also the specialized program "Security and Cryptology of Informatic Systems" of the Master of Science in Informatics at Grenoble
Selection of candidates
Students are selected and admitted to the programme based on their academic records, language skills, motivation and a judgement of their ability to successfully complete the Master programme. Based on the application package, the selection is carried out in two stages :
a first pre-selection based on the academic results and recommendations ;
a final selection based on interviews of pre-selected students.
To be admitted to the program, candidates shall have previously completed their undergraduate studies and been awarded of a Bachelor degree in either Science (BSc) or Engineering (BEng) that includes courses in computing and solid practice in programming. Applications of candidates with bachelor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering will be preferably considered. Skills in algebra are also requested for those that will take the optional courses on advanced cryptology. Admission of students is always at the discretion of the ENSIMAG which may require that the student attend additional courses in order to qualify for the Master degree.
Teaching organisation and pedagogy
Teaching is organised through lectures, exercise classes, laboratory training. All will be done in English. Most of these are directly devoted to these students due to langage and calendar constraints ; however each time it will be applicable the teaching will be made in common with the regular students of this master program. Theory and concepts will implemented pratically during projects lasting several weeks and run by student groups of 2 to 4 persons. Special tutoring will be provided with teaching assistants offering support for individual explanations or help for home work.
