New commutator estimates for the wave equation and Price's law
Mercredi, 18 Mai, 2016 - 10:00
Résumé :

Price’s law postulates that generic solutions to the wave equation on Schwarzschild backgrounds will decay in time according to precise inverse-polynomial decay rates and not any faster. I will discuss new physical space methods for proving such sharp decay rates for solutions on asymptotically flat spacetimes. These methods can in particular be applied to prove the upper bounds and lower bounds in Price’s law. This work has been done jointly with Yannis Angelopoulos and Stefanos Aretakis.
